WELCOME

Supporting women through the thresholds that shape a life.

I'm Jessica Wycherley, a Doula with a background in professional dance, movement, and theology. Studying theology has profoundly shaped the way I understand pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. It has taught me that becoming a parent is far more than a medical event or a change in circumstance, it is one of life's most profound transformations, deserving of thoughtful, compassionate, and intentional care. I believe women and families need more than information alone. They need support that acknowledges the significance of this transition and nurtures the physical, emotional, relational, and practical needs of the whole family. Every family's journey is different, and the care they receive should reflect their individual values, circumstances, hopes, and aspirations.

A “Doula” is a trained professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and practical support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the early weeks of parenthood. Doulas do not replace midwives or obstetricians, nor do they provide clinical care. Instead, we work alongside your maternity team, helping you navigate reliable information, understand your options, and feel supported as you make decisions that are right for you and your family.

This conviction gave rise to Hearth & Hawthorn.

The Hearth 🔥 has long symbolized warmth, nourishment, home, and belonging—a place where people gather, rest, and are cared for. The Hawthorn 🌿, traditionally associated with protection and thresholds, reflects the profound transitions that shape our lives. Together, they express our vision: to accompany families through one of life’s most significant journeys with warmth, thoughtful care, and trusted support.

Hearth & Hawthorn is a maternal wellbeing practice that brings together personalised Doula care, movement-based wellbeing, fourth trimester support, and a carefully cultivated network of trusted practitioners and evidence-informed resources. We recognise that no two families are the same, and neither should the care they receive be.

Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, we thoughtfully curate support around the unique needs of each family. This may include personalised Doula care, movement sessions that help women feel connected to their changing bodies, practical and nurturing support throughout the fourth trimester, or connecting families with trusted professionals who can provide specialist guidance when it is needed.

Our role is not to have every answer, but to walk alongside families, helping them find the people, knowledge, and support that best serve their individual journey. Through compassionate relationships, carefully curated resources, and a trusted network of practitioners, we seek to create a place where families feel welcomed, understood, and cared for.

At Hearth and Hawthorn we believe that when a woman is cared for, families flourish.
